art + design + landscape

We are happy to share this collection of photographs for a special residential project Tropos / OMC Landscape Architecture has been working on, situated on the shoreline in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The project is a representation of the landscape design and ecological principles that guide each of our creative projects - employing a sensitive reading of a site to generate a design that is evocative of the unique characteristics of a place.

The landscape design is carefully choreographed through a single circulation path, while framing several key views of the lake and the landscape beyond to connect the building with the unique relationship it has to Lake Ontario. A focus on local species patterns that are endemic to the Carolinian Life zone has been carried through the design process to ensure adaptive ecological principles are a guiding structure for the restoration plan. The landscape is designed to reflect the regional ecology in Niagara, and includes a mix of woodland restoration and native meadow that are unique to the bioregion. We are looking forward to the completion of this project this upcoming year.

The landscape is designed by Tropos and OMC Landscape Architecture.
